If you don’t already enjoy the benefits of a solid fuel stove or open fire, or if you are thinking of upgrading or redecorating your existing fireplace or solid fuel stove, we can install, build or renovate most things to do with solid fuel fires.
Our skills include:
- Any necessary brick, block or stone work
- Installing or renovating chimney linings and cowlings
- Custom made lintels and fireplace surrounds
- Heat resistant rendering and tiling
- Slab foundations or tiled floors for your fire or stove.
We don’t supply fires, stoves, components and materials directly as there are now many internet based and speciality retailers that can supply the equipment you want (or need) at lower prices. However, on request, we will provide an “advice and internet shopping service” to create a detailed list of the components you need to for your fireplace project.
We will obviously charge for our time in creating the shopping list, but you can then decide whether you want to source the items yourself or have us buy it for you, from our regular suppliers.
Only pay for the services you use.
We will be happy to visit, talk to you about what you are trying to achieve and give you a free, no obligation quotation. Our quotation for your fireplace project will be as accurate as we can possibly make it, however we only charge by the hour and therefore our quotation will consist of the number of hours we estimate it will take to complete the project to your satisfaction.
When we provide you with a written quotation, we will break down the project into individual components, with corresponding time estimates for each component. This will hopefully help you keep track of the estimated time versus the actual time taken. It should also help give you a good indication that we have not under estimated the time, just to win your order.
Our charges are £25 per hour, which we think are very reasonable for skilled labour.
Our Customer Satisfaction Charter
We will keep you informed of progress at all times. Every day, we will give you a full progress report and if we encounter any unforeseen issues, we will immediately talk to you about how you want them solved.
If, in the very unusual circumstance, you are at all unhappy with the progress of your work compared to the hours taken, you can invoke what is known as our “Customer Escalation Procedure”. This is a process whereby any customer can talk to someone at Flaxlands Firewood other than the workman who is carrying out your work. He/she will fully investigate the circumstances of any delays, or lack of productivity you have highlighted and where justified we will adjust our bill accordingly.
You can of course end our commercial relationship at any time and you will only pay for the hours we have spent on your project.
We will not ask for any money up front. You will pay us in arrears for each day we have spent on your project. However we can only give you a maximum of 2 days of credit before asking you to pay for our time. If you do not pay for the time we have spent, we will obviously not continue with the work. If payment every 2 days is inconvenient, we will we discuss mutually agreeable alternatives.
As a form of warranty to let you access the quality of our labour, we will not invoice you for the last 2 days of our labour for one month after the project is complete
WE WILL NOT START YOUR PROJECT AND LEAVE IT UNFINISHED.
That is, of course, unless you tell us to! We will try our very best to complete your project as quickly as we can. We cannot absolutely guarantee to be at your site on every consecutive day of your project, but at the beginning of your project, we will lay out a realistic timetable and keep you fully informed of any necessary variations in that timetable. We will try our best to keep any variations as convenient as possible for the customer.
